Consultant Facial Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Samir Ghoraba joined the Global Faculty of the 8th Annual Meeting of the Moroccan Society of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgeons (SOMCEP), held from 8 to 10 October 2026 at the Savoy Le Grand Hotel in Marrakech. He shared his experience in facelift surgery and facial rejuvenation, took part in live surgery, and presented insights from his forthcoming book for the first time.

Dr. Ghoraba attended the meeting at the invitation of SOMCEP President Dr. Hatim Droussi. The Society’s Annual Meeting brings together plastic and aesthetic surgeons from Morocco and abroad for three days of workshops, scientific sessions, live surgery, symposia, round tables and interactive debates.

In announcing his participation, SOMCEP introduced Dr. Ghoraba as an internationally renowned plastic surgeon and a pioneer in deep plane facelift surgery.

Facelift Surgery and Facial Rejuvenation

During the meeting, Dr. Ghoraba shared his experience in facelift surgery and facial rejuvenation with the faculty and delegates. His sessions addressed the principles behind his approach to deep plane facelift surgery, a field in which natural and consistent results depend on a precise understanding of facial anatomy and careful surgical judgement.

Live Surgery

Dr. Ghoraba also took part in the meeting’s live surgery programme. Live surgery remains one of the most valuable formats in surgical education. It allows surgeons to follow a procedure in real time and to understand the reasoning behind each decision as it is made, in a way no recorded presentation can fully replicate.

A First Look at Beyond the SMAS: Deep Plane Anatomy Revisited

The meeting also marked a personal milestone. For the first time, Dr. Ghoraba shared exclusive insights and excerpts from his forthcoming book, Beyond the SMAS: Deep Plane Anatomy Revisited.

The book reflects the emphasis on facial anatomy that runs through his surgical work. Presenting its first insights to an audience of specialists in Marrakech offered colleagues an early view of the work ahead of its publication.

Learning From One Another

For Dr. Ghoraba, the value of meetings such as SOMCEP’s extends beyond the scientific programme:

“Beyond the science and surgery, what makes these meetings truly special is the opportunity to learn from one another, exchange ideas, share knowledge, and build friendships that last a lifetime.”

— Dr. Samir Ghoraba

Surgeons trained in different institutions and practising in different healthcare systems bring different perspectives to the same clinical questions. Meetings that bring those perspectives together, and the professional relationships they create, contribute directly to the continued refinement of facial plastic surgery.

“Grateful for the opportunity to teach, to learn, and to grow together.”

— Dr. Samir Ghoraba

Acknowledgement

Dr. Ghoraba extended his thanks to SOMCEP President Dr. Hatim Droussi for the invitation, and to the Society and its organising committee for hosting the meeting. He left Marrakech with new friendships, valuable lessons and renewed inspiration for his work in facial rejuvenation, and he looks forward to future editions of the meeting.
