Dr. Samir Ghoraba presented his facelift technique, the Preservation High-SMAS Deep Plane Facelift, at Plastic Surgery The Meeting (PSTM) 2026. The meeting was organised by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and held in Houston, Texas, from 15 to 18 October 2026.
Plastic Surgery The Meeting is the annual scientific meeting of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. It brings together plastic surgeons from the United States and around the world to present clinical work, review techniques and discuss the direction of the specialty.
At this year’s meeting in Houston, Dr. Ghoraba presented the Preservation High-SMAS Deep Plane Facelift, the technique at the centre of his work in facelift surgery and facial rejuvenation.
Presenting the Technique
Presenting a facelift technique at a meeting of this standing is a test of reasoning as much as of results. The audience is made up of surgeons who perform facelift surgery themselves. Each element of a technique, and the anatomical rationale behind it, is assessed by peers with direct experience of the same clinical decisions.
Dr. Ghoraba’s presentation set out the principles of the Preservation High-SMAS Deep Plane Facelift and its aim of achieving natural, consistent and long-lasting results.
A Panel Discussion on the Best Facelift Technique
Dr. Ghoraba also took part in a panel discussion on a question that continues to generate debate within the specialty: what makes the best facelift technique, and, more importantly, how natural, consistent and long-lasting results can be achieved.
Facelift surgery offers a range of established approaches, each with its own advocates. Panel discussions of this kind allow experienced surgeons to compare those approaches openly, examine their reasoning and identify the principles that matter most for patients.
For Dr. Ghoraba, the answer lies less in the choice of technique alone than in the understanding behind it:
“Beyond the debate over techniques, the real key lies in understanding facial anatomy, addressing the individual mechanisms of aging, and tailoring surgery to each patient.”
— Dr. Samir Ghoraba
Form, Function and Foundation
This view reflects the philosophy that guides Dr. Ghoraba’s approach to facial rejuvenation. Every face ages differently, and the mechanisms behind that ageing vary from one patient to another. Surgery that delivers natural results must therefore begin with a precise understanding of facial anatomy and be planned around the individual patient, rather than applied as a single standard procedure.
“The best facelift is not simply about lifting tissues, it’s about restoring Form, Function, and Foundation while preserving the natural beauty and expression of the face.”
— Dr. Samir Ghoraba
It is a principle that places the patient’s natural appearance and expression at the centre of surgical planning, with the aim of a result that looks rested and refreshed rather than altered.
Contributing to the International Conversation
Participation in meetings such as PSTM forms part of Dr. Ghoraba’s ongoing commitment to surgical education and peer exchange. Presenting a technique before colleagues, debating approaches in open discussion and learning from surgeons trained in different institutions all contribute to the continued refinement of facelift surgery and the standard of care patients receive.
Dr. Ghoraba looks forward to continuing that exchange at future international meetings.
